Valentines and CD-RW

Every year my mother gets me a box -- ok, usually two -- boxes of chocolates for Valentines. This year I asked her not to. I really don't need them and since I got those fillings last year I don't eat too many sweets now. She asked me what I wanted and I told her nothing but being who she is got me something anyway: a 48x16 CD-RW drive! *happy dance* My old one was 12x4. Now, it should have been easy to install it. I had installed one before, but this being me... I installed the drive and booted to which I was reward with an error message saying there was failure of Disk 1. I clicked Resume and WinXP seemed to load ok but I wanted to know why I got the error. I dropped into BIOS and noticed the 2nd hard drive wasn't being recognized. After a few hours of things NOT going well and a frustration level approaching the need to strangle something I went to bed for the night. The next morning involved a few more hours of frustration when it occurred to me that just maybe the machine was out of juice. I realized that I had 5 drives hooked up to it and it came with 3 originally. So, I unhooked (and more importantly unpowered) the old CD-RW, rebooted and everything worked fine. I'm leaving things that way for now.

My aunt called inviting me and my mother for dinner over that night. She and my uncle had cooked steaks, baked potatoes, broccoli and cheese, baked beans, and hot dogs. My aunt even made a cake but it had a few problems with it *cough*shedroppeditonthecounter*cough*. Heh. My cousin L had gotten me a small box of chocolate truffles. My aunt got me a t-shirt from Ralph Lauren Polo.

From there was a quick trip to Wal*Mart where I bought 2 DVDs: X-Men and Iron Monkey. While I hadn't seen the latter before I'd heard good things about it. I've played it twice already and thoroughly enjoyed it.
