so far today

Went this morning to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned. The dental tech scraped and scraped and scraped. Ouch! But at least that's done with so that's cool.

Headed a block or two down to the library and checked out three books. I also bought six while I was there:
  • Greg Bear - "Tangents"
  • Orson Scott Card - "Seventh Son"
  • Arthur C. Clarke - "3001: The Final Odyssey"
  • Frederik Pohl - "Beyond the Blue Horizon"
  • Frederik Pohl and Jack Williamson - "The Singers of Time"
  • Timothy Zahn - "Conquerors' Legacy"

and tonight

I ended up taking a long nap this afternoon and woke up with my eyes watery, my head aching and the smell of smoke coming from the direction of the swamp cooler. The smoke was coming from fires up in the hills by Lake Arrowhead and other places to the west of here. The smell isn't so strong now though I don't know if that's because the wind has shifted or I've gotten used to the smell.

I had downloaded Mercedes Lackey's "The Lark and the Wren" earlier today. I've been wanting to check it out from the library but it's never been available when I go there. I also just download this song. I love the raspiness of Carnes' voice. I sort of consider it a female version of Rod Stewart's voice.
