I got an unsolicited VISA credit card offer from Bank One which seemed like a good card. No annual fees, a small late fee, being able to opt-out of telemarketing, and most importantly a 7.9% fixed APR. "Great!" I'm thinking since my current card is 9%. Then I noticed a tiny asterisk after the 7.9% so I looked below to the tiny text where they say that the rate is subject to change, in this case it can be changed to a variable rate. So then I think, "if it can be changed then how in the hell can they call it a fixed rate?" *grumble* I added the literature to the needs-to-be-shredded pile.
