friday five (http://www.fridayfive.org)

1. What is your lineage? Where are your ancestors from?
Both my paternal grandparents were born in Mexico and my (spotty) knowledge doesn't know what came before that. My maternal grandfather's parents were also from Mexico but I do know there's both French and Spanish in my grandpa's father side of the family. My maternal grandmother hails from the Azore Islands which is under Portugal's control so I guess that makes her Portugeuse. I know very little of her background since she had died when my mother was 3 but I do know came here to the States a few years after her sister did.

2. Of those countries, which would you most like to visit?
Probably France. From the Louvre to wandering aimlessly through quaint country villages, there'd be a lot to see.

3. Which would you least like to visit? Why?
That'd be Mexico. Why? There's simply more I'd rather see in France and Spain.

4. Do you do anything during the year to celebrate or recognize your heritage?
No, nope, nuh-uh, nada. The closest I come to anything like that is the Mexican food I cook and eat.

5. Who were the first ancestors to move to your present country (parents, grandparents, etc)?
That'd be my maternal grandfather's parents in the first decade of 1900. I have records of their entry into the U.S. (and on to Phoenix, Arizona) but it's packed away in an old steamer trunk which is burried beneath other boxes.
