another one bites the dust

The original Army boy neighbor, M, is moving out today. After the second guy, J, had moved in J got married so all three were living next door. The original plan was M was going to go to college locally while J and his wife found their own place. The plan changed however and now M is moving back to the L.A. region (Bellflower I think) while the couple stays next door. I don't know for sure the reason for the change of plans but about 3 or 4 weeks back after lots of drinking there was a fight between M and some friends that were over. Lots of yelling, scuffling and somebody having to go to the hospital emergency for a broken nose. At one point I heard M saying how he couldn't get respect from his girl and how he had no homies here. The way he said it though made it sound so pitiful. Anyway, M had just come by asking if my mother could move her car so they could move his stuff out via the garage area. He was wearing jeans, no shirt and a 3 day-old beard. In short, looking yummilicious. *sigh* He was one of the better neighbors we've had in that apartment. Very respectful. Turned down the volume of music when asked. Didn't bring around lots of scuzzy people. And the best reason: the police only had to make one visit. ;o) Ah well, he'll be missed.

I <3 the 80s

As often as I criticize MTV and VH1 for abandoning videos in exchange for sub-par cheap programming (less so with VH1 though) I have to give props to VH1 for their "I Love the 80s" shows. Brings back so many memories. So many fashion and hairstyle mistakes. TV shows you have to believe the TV execs were on crack when they decided on producing them (like Alf who shouldn't still be on TV hawking telephone plans.) But then comes the music I remember growing up. From Dead Or Alive to Poison to Salt N Pepa. I had completely forgotten about Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam but as soon as I heard some of their songs I just had to downloaded them. *points down to the current music* Good stuff.
