July 1, 2003 - In a decision hailed by gay and transgender activists, the Tucson City Council unanimously told city staff yesterday to move toward establishing a domestic partner registry.
Unmarried gay, lesbian and heterosexual couples on the registry would have the right to visit partners in hospitals and get city discounts, such as family rates at municipal pools, available to married couples.
