2013

tune in next week...

Turner Classic Movies has been running a 9 film salute to Hayao Miyazaki on Thursdays. Two weeks ago "Spirited Away" and "Princess Mononoke" were shown. Last week was "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" and "Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind" (the latter I hadn't seen before.) Tonight showed "My Neighbor Totoro", "Porco Rosso" and "Whisper of the Heart". The latter two were new to me. Next week will be "Only Yesterday" and "Pom Poko", neither of which I've seen. Even better is that they're showing both the dubbed and subbed version on the same night. I wish I'd seen these movies when I was a kid. They're so much more interesting and fun than "classic" Disney movies.
